Our Bimini Tops are free-standing shade
structures. They come in different lengths, widths, and
heights.
Bimini Tops consist of 4
components:
Selection of these components are based
on the size of the boat, size of the Bimini top, and the
boater's individual needs.

The Components
Tubular Frame
The tubular framework can be of aluminum
or stainless steel. Stainless steel has a greater "span
strength" than aluminum.
Aluminum tubing is typically reserved
for open bow, cuddy cabin, and center console boats 24' and
under; and Bimini tops not to exceed 8'. Boats and Bimini
tops exceeding these dimensions typically use stainless steel
for their "span strength" across these dimensions.

Framework Fittings
Framework fittings can be purchased made
of plastic/nylon, die-cast chrome, or stainless steel.
Here again, plastic/nylon fittings are reserved for the smaller
Bimini tops that are under less "structural span stress."
Die-cast chrome fittings can also be
used with aluminum tubing for added strength and custom looks.
Stainless steel is top of the line.
It is necessary on large boats and large Bimini tops that
require brute strength.
Fitting selections are very important.
For if one fails, your Bimini top is out of service until the
broken fitting is repaired or replaced.

Fabric Selection
Fabric Selection comes next. For
your basic Bimini top, customers choose
Sunbrella fabric 90% of
the time. It is plenty durable and looks good.
Over the years of building Bimini tops,
we have located the high-stress areas and double stitch those
areas for longevity.

Polypropylene
Straps
Polypropylene webbing or straps are
sometimes used on the four corners to hold the Bimini tight on
the boat (see image above). Here again,
we test each strap to make it holds as your boat is going down
the waterway.
